1 Comments:
Layman (2003) discusses various types of technology being used in healthcare and the various terminology used for the various applications. Information systems hold patient identifiable patient data and aggregate data for review and data-mining.
Infoethics is the term used to describe the review of ethics within technology systems. The article discusses the concepts of beneficence, autonomy, fidelity, and justice related to technology in health informatics. This involves the justification for the use of technology and information, the ability to access information, maintain confidentiality, accountability of information, and barriers to access to information and health care.
Proposed solutions for the review of ethics and technology involves processes related to regulation and enforcement, standards, guidelines, and honor codes of ethics.
In my opinion, areas of concern related to ethics are network security and patient privacy.
